Carbide drills provide faster cutting rates, longer tool life, better positional and dimensional accuracy and improved surface finish. Guhring carbide drills are manufactured from Guhring carbide rod that is produced by our carbide production facility in Berlin, Germany. End Mills

Guhring is somewhat unique amongst carbide end mill manufacturers in that Guhring produces its own carbide rod, which is the substrate material for all Guhring carbide end mills. This ability to control the quality and supply of carbide rod gives Guhring carbide end mills longer and more repeatable tool life and performance. Guhring was also one of the first manufacturers to offer a variable helix end mill design and now has one of the largest standard offerings in the industry. Guhring FIREX®, Super-A™, nano-FIREX® and nano-TiAlN coated end mills are finished in Guhring own PVD coating chambers for consistent quality and Guhring also offers in-house regrind and carbide end mill modifications.

The process of cutting the threads in a hole is called "tapping" the hole. Guhring offers a full range of taps for the creation of internal thread forms. Coarse Thread Series UNC & Metric M is the most commonly used thread system in the majority of screws, bolts and nuts. The UNC coarse thread is often used for quick assembly or disassembly. Fine Thread Series UNF & Metric Fine MF is used for applications that require higher tensile strength than the coarse thread series and where thin walls are required. Using only premium substrate materials such as cobalt, powdered metal cobalt and carbide, Guhring taps are designed to last longer and provide high quality thread results. Guhring taps are produced to both ANSI and DIN specifications for a variety of applications. The color ring system allows the end user to quickly choose the correct tap style for the material that is being threaded.

Thread Mills

Thread mills provide an alternative process for manufacturing threads where tapping may not be a viable solution. Difficult or hardened materials, extremely tight pitch diameter or dimensional tolerance, and very large diameter threads are all candidates for the thread milling process. Guhring thread mills are manufactured from Guhring carbide rod, produced by our facility in Berlin, Germany for Guhring’s carbide tooling. Guhring’s R & D facilities have developed carbide grades specifically for the demands of high performance milling, which provides Guhring with a competitive advantage versus tooling manufacturers who purchase carbide rod from multiple sources.

Tool Holders

Guhring offers a complete line of tool holders and clamping systems. Whether tooling a multi-spindle special transfer line, multi-spindle drill head, CNC machining or turning center, Guhring has the right tool holder for the application.
